Sooooo, I decided to also share my first layout with paper piecing too...

Flashback Friday

The challenge for Flashback Friday 19.0 is to repost your first clean and simple card.  Sometimes when I read the challenge I immediately remember my "first".  This was not one of those times.  I am a huge fan of CAS and frequently turn to it, but I have not always been that way.
Check out the original post here.
Be sure to play along.  It is soooo easy and I promise you, even fun (most of the time!) to look back on your first posts!

Flashback Friday 18.0

It's time for a new Flashback Friday Challenge
This time around, the challenge is to repost your first project with an owl on it.
I am flashing back to 2009 where I found my first "owl" card...
Weird photo angle, but I still love that little owl from Little Paper Shop!  Gees, this also makes me wonder when was the last time I pulled out my watercolor pencils?  That is what I like about flashing back.  It is a chance to revisit and improve upon!  Plus, it is sooooo easy to play along!

Flashback Friday 17.0

It is Flashback Friday time, 17.0 to be exact!!!  The latest challenge is to repost our first banner.  Now when I saw the challenge I smiled and laughed because I knew immediately what my first banner was.  Does anyone remember this card?  Maybe Amy Tsuruta does..

Ironically enough, this was an on-line Birthday card I made to celebrate Amy's Birthday last year.  I tried to incorporate all the styles and techniques that Amy was doing at the time, including sewing, patterened paper, paper piecing and a BANNER!  Check out all the details on my original post HERE.

Be sure to link up a repost of your first banner to Flashback Friday 17.0.  Today would be the perfect time to link up because if you do it by the end of today Amy is giving away extra prizes.  Remember, you just need to repost, not create something new.  Fun and easy!!!
I am sooooo happy that I came across Amy's post.  I am slowly catching up on all the craftiness that I missed this past week.  We got power back at my house on Friday - 6 days without power is noooooo fun at all!

Julie

Flashback Friday 13.0

Flashback Friday 13.0
Guess who the guest designer is for this go around???  ME!  I was so excited to win the last Flashback Friday challenge so that I could pick the theme for this challenge.
Are you ready???  The challenge is to re-post your first non-traditional shaped card! That means no rectangles or squares, but circles and everything else are welcome :>)
Non-traditional shaped cards are not the norm for me, but I thought it would be fun to see everyone's first creations.  Plus, I admit, I got to pick the theme so I picked something that fit a "first" project that I would not be too embarrassed to re-post.  So enough chit chat, here is my first non-traditional shaped card from back in June 2009...

For all the details click here to go back in time and see the original post.
Now, I want to see what you have made.  Repost your first non-traditional shaped card and link it up to Flashback Friday 13.0.  Super duper simple!  You don't even have to make something new and you could win a prize.  Yes, what is a challenge without a prize???!!!
The sponsors for this challenge are:

which co-brands with

Now what could you win???  Check out the adorable cards found here and here!  Plus have you been amazed by all the stickers out there in blog land?  You could win these and these!

Remember, all you need to do is re-post your first non-traditional shaped card.  Maybe it is from 2 years ago, or maybe it is just last month.  Check out all the challenge details and link up your re-post to the Flashback Friday blog.  You have until July 29th to play along!

Flashing Back With Summery Colors

Red
Orange
Yellow
Those are the colors that make me think of summer.  Rarely however will you see such bright colors on my creations.  Primary colors can be a bit scary!
The Flashback Friday Challenge 12.0 is to repost your first card using summery colors.  Yikes!
For all the details on the chicken check out the original post from July 2009.
Why don't you take the plunge and repost your first summery card???

Flashback Friday 11.0 Weddings

The latest Flashback Friday challenge is to repost the first wedding card you posted on your blog.
Here it is from June 2009:

The image was created using an embossing stencil and paste.  The paste is something that I picked up at a stamping show years ago.  Check out all the details on the original post found here.
Don't be shy, share your first wedding card again and link it up to the Flashback Friday 11.0 challenge.  I find it fun to look back thru all my cards.
Have a great weekend!

Sewing Past and Present

A Little Tykes picnic table in the basement is where I started off sewing on my cards.  Okay, it's a finished basement, but the picnic table is really small ;>) Now, I can't stop sewing and the sewing machine is right next to my crafting supplies.  If you do not see sewing on one of my cards it is either because a) I was too tired to change the thread color or b) I made a conscience effort to fight temptation!
Today's card from the present has just a bit of sewing on it.  I really wanted to sew the scallops on and then could not stop, so I added a bit around the edges.

This cute little bunny, Clementine, is from Stamp Fairy.  The latest challenge from Stamp Fairy is "for the girls" and really, how sweet is Clementine with her bows?!
I took sketch #111 from Card Patterns and moved the sentiment.
This card is also for the latest guest designer challenge from Tesa Broman on Yvonne Yams blog "Do More with Less" - this time around it is to color.  You should really just pop over to see Tesa's creations, she makes it look so easy.
Now it is time for a blast from the past.  Flashback Friday's 10.0 challenge is to re-post your first card with sewing on it.  I knew immediately which card was my first, and the title of that post, "Do Not Try This at Home", should be a clue as to why I will never forget that card.  I sewed the card shut!!!  I ended up matting it on a different card base, but I learned my lesson and always sew the layers before putting the card together.

Have a wonderful week and hopefully you find time to play along with these fun challenges!
Smiles,
Julie
Details for first card:  Image - Clementine (Stamp Fairy), Sentiments - Verve and Lawn Fawn, PP - Hopscotch (Basic Grey), CS - Aqua Mist and Kraft (PTI), Buttons (PTI), and copics.

Flashback Friday 9.0

Amy is having us flash back again and this time it is to repost our first window card!  I distinctly remember this card from July 2009-- LOL!!!  There is a slight cringe with this one...I really like the concept, but well looking back at it I am not too thrilled with the colors and execution.

Why don't you join in and repost your first window card?  Check out the Flashback Friday 9.0 blog post HERE and link up!

Flashback Friday 8.0

This week's Flashback Friday challenge is to repost your first 3-D project.  Normally, I have a little bit of trepidation about reposting my creations - you know some things don't need to be seen a second time ;>)  This time however, I am so excited, because I enjoy creating boxes so much.  My first "box" was made in May 2009 and it was just one of those times that the planets aligned and I was actually able to achieve the idea I had in my head - LOL!

If you want more details on my Bug Collection Box flash on back to this post.  This is the template that started it all for me :>)  I still have the box because I could not bear to part with it.
Be sure to play along and repost your first 3-D project!  How easy is that?!!!  No need to create something new, unless you have never made a 3-D project before :>)  Pssst - the prize for challenge 8.0 is from Nikki Sivils!

Julie

Glitter - Flashback Friday 7.0

Glitter!  It is the Flashback Friday 7.0 challenge.  Repost the first project you made using glitter.  I know glitter has been around a long time, but I only had to flashback just over a year.  I bought my first package of paper crafting glitter in December 2009 so that I could make these cards.
I ended up making quite a few of these as sets for Christmas gifts.  I was inspired by Nicole Heady.  Here is my original post if you really want to flashback :>)
If you want to play along with Flashback Friday link up the repost of your first glitter creation HERE.  You have until Friday Feb. 4th to link up.

Julie

Flashback Friday 6.0

Amy Tsuruta's Flashback Friday challenges are fun and easy, all you need to do is repost a certain type of card, etc. I was stumped though, with the 6.0 challenge from Yvonne Yam, to repost **The first card you blogged about that featured an unexpected find from your home**.  I am a follower of Yvonne's blog because she is a master with scrapbook layouts, and also because she can take a mix of the most unusual materials and create masterpieces.  Her first card with an unexpected find included a tiara :>)  After looking back thru my own posts, however, I learned that I do not leave my craft room when it comes to card making!!!  If I did not buy it in a craft store then most likely you will not find it on my cards.
That being said, I did find a card using toothpicks that I did for a EBTKS challenge back in December 2009.  I suppose the only reason I went into the kitchen for this card was because toothpicks were part of the challenge.  If I remember correctly, I may have even bought toothpicks specifically for the challenge!  So here it is, I know the suspense is unbearable, my thrilling flashback card containing toothpicks...
I really need to think outside the craft room!  I did upcycle tonight though, by taking a faux fur vest with a broken zipper and turning it into a mini comforter for my daughter's dolls.  I am trying!!!
Why don't you reshare your own first card with a "find"?!!!  Link up your creation to Amy's Flashback Friday 6.0 by 11:59 pm PST Friday, January 7th, 2011.
Smiles,
Julie

Flashback Friday 5.0

Amy Tsuruta has issued another Flashback Challenge - the 5th challenge is to repost the first time you used a new technique.

I am sharing the first time I did paper piercing back in the Spring of 2009, which reminds me that I have not used that technique in a long time.
Have a wonderful Friday and why don't you link up your first technique card to Amy's blog?  You have until 11:59 pm tonight (12/10/10).
Smiles,
Julie
Details:  All SU - the image is an oldie, but a cutie!
