Dressed Down Sketch Challenge

The challenge this week on the Little Paper Shop Blog is a sketch challenge.  The past 3 months have flown by - this is my last challenge as part of the LPS design team.  A big thanks to everyone on the team for being so sweet and a huge thanks to the owner of LPS, Julia!!!
The sketch is a simple one, which makes it easy to dress up or down.  I went the down route which is my status quo with a "guy" card.  I repeatedly stamped one of the sentiments from the set "Father" to create my own background, then added the word Father, some embossed strips and buttons.  Inside I stamped #1 Dad to go along with the sentiment.

Link up your take on this sketch to the Little Paper Shop blog HERE, by Sunday July 4th at 9 pm for the chance to win the "Little Friend" digi.
Check out what the rest of the design team did for more inspiration too!
Smiles,
Julie

Enjoying the Ride

Well I finally decided to ink up my "Enjoy the Ride" set from PTI.  I seriously love this set and have seen so many fab cards using it.  What took me soooo long???  What have I been busy doing???  Well, one hint is the furry white background in the photo....hmmmmm...

This card is for someone I work with who is moving away.  It is a "guy" card so I kept it simple and drew on the red in the fab October Afternoon map PP to tie it all together.  I found a new challenge site, Always Playing with Paper, and their latest sketch is my inspiration.  Speaking of inspiration in general, if you ever need a sketch head on over to Allison's blog "Stampin' When I Can" and search thru her posts...there are tons of sketch blogs linked up by the day the sketch goes up.  Plus she shares some great creations of her own.

So what is small, furry, white and adorable?  Bolt!  Yep, a puppy joined our family :>)  He is just the cutest, sweetest little ball of fur who loves to give tons of kisses.   He is a West Highland White Terrier. We considered a number of breeds, but have a soft spot for Westies as we had one a few years back.

Bolt likes to play with my cards and has potential as a photo assistant.  That is so long as he does not try to eat the card as he did right after I shot this pic!

So yep, besides the end of the year school craziness and summer vacations, we now have potty training an 11 week old to add to the list.  I was actually afraid to use my sewing machine at first because I did not want to wake him up!  We are doing crate training and he sleeps in our bedroom to be part of the pack.  Now I just need to convince Bolt that I am the alpha dog in our pack :>)

Have a wonderful week!
Smiles,
Julie

LPS Summer Color Challenge

This week's color challenge on the Little Paper Shop blog is a bright and summery combo - Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, & optional - Summer Sun

I took the sketch from Card Patterns' this week, sketch #69, then added some floss, sewing and crumpled circle flowers - flowers are the challenge this week on C4C.  The focal point is a sentiment from the LPS set Everyday.  I also stamped the bee trail from the Little Lady Katie set as veins in the leaves.  I decided to substitute Crushed Curry for the Summer Sun since the reverse side of the Melon PP had this subtle pattern in Curry.

Link up your own color creation to the Little Paper Shop blog HERE, by Sunday June 27 at 9 pm.  Check out what the rest of the design team did for more inspiration too!

Enjoy your first week of summer!  My daughter's last day of school is today, let the fun begin.
Smiles,
Julie

A Summer Sundae

Have you checked out the free image offered by Inktegrity this week?  Inktegrity is taking the summer off, but you would never know it!  Each Monday there is a free digi posted on the Inktegrity blog.  This week's image is a fun one for the summer - a beach sundae!  I turned my ice cream into blue water and added some sand for the topping.

The layout for this card is based on the latest fab sketch #68 from Card Patterns.  It really is a great sketch - I have actually made quite a few quick graduation cards using it (some so quick that I did not even have time to take pics!).

Head on over to the Inktegrity blog to check out the freebie - do it fast, it will be gone to make room for a new image soon.  Plus, the Inktegrity store has a new web site found HERE.  Not to mention that there is a new digi forum that Inktegrity joined Crafter's Digital Arts Center - if you like digis or even if you are new to 'em, I recommend joining this new community.  There are tons of freebies from a variety of designers, tips and challenges.
Lots of summer Inktegrity fun is to be found!  I don't think Joni, the owner of Inktegrity, is really taking the summer off at all :>)
Enjoy your Friday!
Smiles,
Julie

Little Paper Shop June Previews Day 2

The June previews for Little Paper Shop's new release continue today.  Julia has found a way to make household chores fun.  Today, the chores continue...yesterday it was baking and today it is cleaning.  Admittedly "Bathing Tyson" is not necessarily a chore, 'cause I know how much fun my sons have in the tub!  This new set will be available for purchase in the Little Paper Shop store on Tuesday, June 15th.
I was inspired by the bubbles, so I grabbed some BoBunny dot paper, then distressed and sewed away!  The layout is based on this week's sketch challenge on the LPS Blog - be sure to check it out and play along for a chance to win the "Little Friend" digi!
There are more goodies from LPS today too.  We are hopping and one commenter who comments on each blog of the DT will win a $15 gift certificate to the LPS Store - you have until Thursday night at 10 pm EST to join in on the fun!!!  You should be arriving from Tasha's blog.  If not, then be sure to start at the Little Paper Shop Blog, and hop, hop, hop.  Next up is Silvia !
Have fun hopping - what a great way to start the week!
Smiles, Julie

Little Paper Shop is Baking!

The June previews for Little Paper Shop's new release start today and up first is an addition to the Little Cuties line.  Lucy is now cooking and baking with the set "Lucy Baking".  This new set will be available for purchase in the Little Paper Shop store on Tuesday, June 15th.

This set makes me think of menus and my MIL.  Each time she makes a big dinner for everyone in the family she jots down the food served and # of people.  She saves these and refers back from one event to the next.  Normally she uses scrap paper, so I picked up this $1 journal at Michael's and created a new cover - she now has an "official" menu keeper!

The layout is from Inspirations sketch challenge #27.  I first came across Makeesha's blog when I took part in a Ustamp with Dawn & Friends event on-line last summer.  She has fab-u-lous ideas and gets creative with templates.

The rest of the design team has some yummy creations to share as well.  Start at the Little Paper Shop Blog, then visit all the DT and leave 'em some lovin'.  One commenter who comments on each blog of the DT will win a $10 gift certificate to the LPS Store!!!  That is enough moola to pick up a fun set and still cover shipping!

Have a great weekend!
Smiles, Julie

A Fun Fun Fun Color Challenge

This week's color challenge on the Little Paper Shop blog is a classic - red, blue and yellow.   I went the fun route and created this quick gift for a co-worker.

The sun and wishing you fun sentiments are from "Jena Beach".  I was leaning towards making the sun look more like a flower on the front of the box, so I inked up one stripe from the "Behind the Scenes" set for the stem.  The box is made from the Perfect Presentation template - "Gift to Go".  It is filled with peanut M&Ms and the box holds a lot - I used up over 1/2 a 14 oz bag!!!

Here are some closeups.

Link up your own classic color creation to the Little Paper Shop blog HERE, by Sunday June 13 at 9 pm.  Check out what the rest of the design team did for more inspiration too!

Have a wonderful start to your week and try to find some time to have fun in the sun.  As you are reading this post I am having fun in the Arizona sun.  Okay, "fun" probably is not the right word as I am at a conference and away from my stamping supplies!!!
Sunny Smiles Anyway, Julie

Butterfly Flowers

Well, my time on the Inktegrity Spring Design Team may officially be over, but I am full of project ideas that I did not have time to create.  Today's project uses the Butterfly image and one of the sentiments in the set, which was released last week.

I like the idea of simply printing the butterfly and cutting it out.  I strung some pearls to make the body of each butterfly and then added some "flower" buttons to match the sentiment.  Plus, this project shows why I enjoy working with digis so much...the ability to make them any size I want.  The butterfly on the box is a little bit bigger than those on the card.

Having a set like this ready to go has come in very handy for unexpected occasions.  The box is a template from Perfect Presentation - Treat Box.

My daughter wants me to save the card to for her Birthday, but I am not sure I will be able to hold onto it that long (She will get something special - don't worry...her Birthday is not until December!).

Smiles,
Julie
