Embossing is a Challenge

Yvonne Yam always has the most interesting guest designers and I am not just saying that because I was one :>) .   I love to play along with the challenges, but sometimes the challenges are well, a challenge!  The latest guest is Ujjwal Gupta and she is challenging everyone to use embossing on a simple card (the deadline is July 1st!).  Well, I am sure many of you are thinking that is an easy challenge.  It turned into a multiple challenge for me.  I could have gone the dry embossing route, but it has been so long since I used embossing powder.  First, I had to find my powder.  That took 15 minutes.  Then I had to actually emboss.  I now remember why I do not emboss.  I make a huge mess!!!  Then, too top it all off  I ended up sticking my fingers on my first attempt before the embossing dried.
After all that, here is what I ended up with.

This is all embossed and I admit, the embossing gives this otherwise CAS card a bit of ooomph.  Just enough shine and just a bit of dimension.  Okay, I like the results.  I just don't like the mess.

Julie

More Cake

Birthday Cake
I love to bake and decorate Birthday cakes, but when it comes to eating 'em I am an ice cream cake kind of gal.  How about you?
The latest sketch from CPS was mixed in with some Togetherness PP from Cosmo Cricket - yum!
This card is also for the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge, which is to add a pin wheel to your creation.  I considered using pinwheel paper, but decided to create my own pinwheel by gluing 2 pieces of PP together.  Pinwheels are all the rage and it was easier to make one than I expected.  What was a little harder on this card?  Sewing.  I sewed the edges and then realized I had run out of thread.  Oh well, I decided to just go with the paper pierced look instead.
Happy Tuesday!!!
Smiles,
Julie

Keeping it CAS with Verve

Here is a quick one for you.  After working with the flowers from Verve's Great Friend set I could not resist pulling out some purples and stamping a CAS version.

Lovin' this flower image and I fussy cut a few more, so no surprises if it pops up again!

Super simple!

Julie

Just Because

Aqua Mist
Kraft
Dark Chocolate
What a color combo.
I mentioned in a post last week that I have a slight fear of crafting with bright colors.  Aqua Mist however is a go to color.  I recently came across a crafting project that I did just over 2 years ago (using a light aqua of course) and I decided to revisit it and update it just a bit.  Gees, now Amy of Flashback Friday has me flashing back all on my own!
Here is the updated version:

Now, the original from 2009...this one was made before I started blogging.

Julie

Cupcake Anyone?

No squares, no rectangles???

The latest Your Next Stamp Challenge is "Seeing Shapes" - to create a shaped card.  Yes, a bit of a challenge for me, but easy once I found this cute cupcake card template/cut file for $1 (plus, if you spend $10 you get 50% off).  Oh what sweetness!

Have a wonderful sunshiny sweet day!

Flashing Back With Summery Colors

Red
Orange
Yellow
Those are the colors that make me think of summer.  Rarely however will you see such bright colors on my creations.  Primary colors can be a bit scary!
The Flashback Friday Challenge 12.0 is to repost your first card using summery colors.  Yikes!
For all the details on the chicken check out the original post from July 2009.
Why don't you take the plunge and repost your first summery card???

Julie
