For the Dogs

The Kite Flying Fhiona set from Your Next Stamp is still sitting on my desk.  Honestly, there are so many great images in the set and I am full of ideas that I can't wait to share.  Here is one of those ideas, using the cute dog image, which just happens to look like my own pup!

I took the sketch from Paper Player's challenge #43 and kept it CAS.  I also think the images are super cute, which fits with Wee Memories challenge #52, All Things Adorable - and the sponsor is Your Next Stamp!!!

Well, one card was not enough!  Once I had the dogs, of course I needed a card with Fhiona walking a dog :>)
I added lots of texture to this one with embossing, paper grass, and ribbon, which fits in with the Your Next Stamp challenge #40 - "Texture It".  Plus, texture is Paper Sundaes' challenge #65.  The layout is based on Mojo Monday's sketch #187.  I have to give this one a try too in Wee Memories challenge #52, All Things Adorable!!!

Even two cards are not enough, I told you I was having fun with this set.  I actually stamped about 2 dozen of these pups on different PP and have been fussy cutting whenever I was in the car passenger seat the past couple weeks.   Even though this is a "girl" set, the dog is one of those images that would be good for a "boy" card too!

I still have more dogs that I cut out, so don't be surprised if I sneak in another "walking the dog" card.
Smiles,
Julie

Recycled Buttons

Breakfast foods are my favorite.  Cereal is perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Now I have a use for all those cereal boxes.  Buttons.  One of my favorite embellies!

Challenge #41 over at Paper Players is recycling, so I took a cereal box and used a die cut to create buttons.  Not the most creative recycling, but a first for me.

I love the button card trend, so I used the frame from Verve's Framed Wishes to create my own.  Mojo Monday's sketch #185 was my inspiration.
Smiles,
Julie
P.S. Fortunately my husband is a wonderful chef so my family does not actually eat cereal all day long :>)

AmberInk's First Annual Christmas Blog Hop

Are you hungry?  Are you ready to hop?  Today is the First Annual AmberInk Holiday Blog Hop.

If you are coming from Jacki Randolph's blog (Team Brown) then you are at the right place (and hopefully you did not overeat over at Jacki's!)!  If not, then be sure to start at Our Ambassador of Awesomeness, Shannan Teubner's blog and get hopping.

We are hopping today AmberInk style.  That means there is a "fun" (I use the term loosely) challenge involved. Alumni and current torchbearers have all been slaving away in the kitchen (er craft room) to serve you a seven course meal!   See, over at AmberInk, we are given missions and this time around we needed to prepare a 7 course meal for 2.  We tried telling Pam that we don't cook, but alas, she laughed and so we are all cooking up a meal for you. Yes, that is the type of challenge you see everyday - LOL!  It translates to a project with 2 colors and a neutral and 7 different techniques.  Okay, so once I figured out what Pam was talking about, I mixed the following together:  1 iPaper (OMG  I love the Snowflake Lace Hint on kraft), 2 ribbon, 3 dry embossing, 4 stitching, 5 pearl embellies, 6 die cut, and 7 lacey trim.  After stirring for quite awhile, and baking for a long time the following came out of the oven...

Did I mention that I love the Snowflake Lace Hint iPaper on kraft?!!!

Be sure to leave a comment today - a few prizes will be given to random comments along the hop!  Plus, head on over to the AmberInklings blog tomorrow as there will be voting on all the creations showcased along today's hop!  Now get hopping...next up is the ubber talented Julia Dunnit of Stamping Ground.  Julia is representing the Pink Team and I am sure she whipped up something super yummy for you!

BTW, my card is based on this week's Mojo Monday Sketch.  I figured I was already confused enough by the blog hop challenge mission, so why not add another layer of complexity with a sketch challenge!
Plus, the Paper Players challenge this week is Christmas!
Smiles,
Agent Foxy Needles

Happy World Card Making Day!

To celebrate today I am sharing a card!  LOL - ok, not so much of a surprise seeing as it is World "Card" Making Day!

Isn't Wally the Whale the cutest? He is a digi from Inktegrity that I resized to make a bit smaller, so that he would fit in the latest Mojo Monday sketch.  The inverted scallop border from Perfect Presentation creates the waves for Wally to swim in.
That's it, not too much chit chat today.  We are all going to be busy making cards anyways, right?
Smiles,
Julie
Details:  Stamps - Wally the Whale (Inktegrity) and sentiment - Everyday Button Bits (PTI), Inverted Scallop (Perfect Presentation), CS (SU & PTI), PP - Road Map (October Afternoon) and Material Girl (Cosmo Cricket), Buttons - Aqua Mist & Pure Poppy (PTI) and stash ribbon.

MOJO Monday #155

It has been awhile since I played along with MOJO Monday, but this week's sketch "drew" me in!  I have wanted to ink up my new Verve set Carpe Cupcake so this was the perfect opportunity.  I specifically bought this set because the sentiment "Seize the Cupcake" is super fun!  Plus, let's face it, Birthdays are the one occasion where it is okay to eat as many cupcakes as you want.

Julee mentioned in her post that she could not wait to see what we did with the tag, so I decided to make a cupcake shaped key fob of sorts out of felt and glitter.
I stamped the cupcake image on felt, twice, then cut around it.  I sewed the 2 pieces together using a blanket stitch (I actually remembered how to do the stitch) and then stuffed the cupcake with leftover felt scraps (I am feeling super resourceful).  Added some glitter, plus the chain to wrap around the ribbon.  I know that many cards I make may not be saved, but the recipient of this card can always take the cupcake fob off and add it to a backpack, etc.

Smiles,
Julie

Heading to the Beach with LPS

The May release preview continues and today I get to share another new Little Cutie with you.  Today is "Beach Jena" and I think she is my new cutie fave!  Besides the image of her, there are several sentiments and beach images in the set.  She will be available for purchase in the Little Paper Shop store on Tuesday, May 4th.

I was blog hopping and came across a free template for the pail and shovel from Lindsay Weirich - The Frugal Crafter.  I shrunk down the template to create a pail for Jena to sit on.  Then increased the size of the template to create this gift pouch.  Another great gift set to have on hand!

Here are a few close up pics that show the great stamps included in the set.  In addition to these, there is also a pail and a couple more sentiments.

The layout is based on this week's Mojo Monday sketch:
It is a perfect sketch to showcase all the fab scrapbook paper I found at my LSS.  72 degrees and Sunny from We R Memory Keepers.  It is the ideal paper for card makers and scrapbookers because it is double sided, with a large pattern on one side and 4 blocks with card maker size patterns on the other - pure genius.  I love my LSS, but wish they had more card sized PP in stock, this paper solves that problem.

The rest of the design team has some sunny cards to share as well.  Be sure to put on plenty of suntan lotion and grab a pina colada as you check out the Little Paper Shop Blog and the DT's blogs.  Comment away and you just may win a $10 gift certificate to the store.  That is enough to pick up a great $8 set and cover shipping!

Enjoy your Sunday and have a wonderful relaxing Mother's Day!
Smiles, Julie
