All Aboard for YNS Challenge 57

Hi Everyone!

Today I am sharing my take on YNS Challenge #57.   I went with the sketch this time around.  I think I go with the sketch about 95% of the time.

The sketch has a couple layers, so I kept those layers white to keep the card on the clean side.

The Crew and Cake

Have you been following the Your Next Stamp blog this week?  The YNS 7th Birthday Celebration has been continuing with a design team series sharing birthday creations.   Be sure to check it out and comment on the posts because one lucky commenter will win a stamp set of their choice.

My celebration creation combines birthday cake and the farm animals from the Funny Farm Crew stamp set.

My sister asked me to make a cake for her boss who was turning 50.   She requested a pretty cake with a touch of fun.   The Funny Farm Crew and Funny Farm sentiments to the rescue.

YNS Ingredients:  Funny Farm Crew stamp set | Funny Farm sentiments stamp set

The farm animals were stamped, colored and fussy cut out, then a toothpick was added to each.   The signs were created by stamping directly on the wood grain paper and then adding each to a Popsicle stick.

There is a story behind the cake too.  I made this cake on a day that was humid.   By the time my sister got the cake back to her house, the rosettes were sliding off the sides.   I told her to take a knife and smooth out the sides. It is much easier to transport cards!

My card is a CASE of THIS card created by my teammate on the SCS CAS team, Tammie Edgerton.   Her card is adorable and I immediately started work on CASEing it.   I swapped out the stamp with another girl holding cupcakes and switched up the colors, but overall, Tammie's card completely inspired mine.

So which one inspired me this time around?   The sketch...have to be honest, I made my card before I created the sketch for this one.   That is one of the perks of creating the sketches ;>).   Usually though, I put together the sketch on paper, with an idea of how I plan to use it, and then create my card.

 Here is the sketch and color combo for #30.  Which one inspires you?   Another perk of choosing the challenges is picking color combos.   It takes a lot of will power to not include my favorite color aqua/teal for each challenge!   I do give in once in awhile though and this challenge has it.

Happy Birthday Cake Day!

Yesterday, I checked out the latest TCP Tuesday challenge (TCPTUES297) and got a little crafty.   The challenge is an inspiration photo of the beach, but since I did not have any TCP beach related stamps I got a little creative.  

Ingredients:   TCP Forget about the Cake stamp set, YNS Alpha stamp set, YNS Big Birthday Balloon Die set and YNS Banner die set, Doodlebug Designs PP, PTI CS, and embroidery floss.

I decided to take my inspiration from the colors and then I used the second photo as the inspiration for the layout on my card.  The bright and happy patterned paper is from Doodlebug Designs and I think it matches the beach blanket well. I want that blanket btw!

Shaking with YNS

This month's Your Next Stamp Design Team Dare is an opportunity to comment and win on the YNS Blog.  It is also an opportunity for Thanh to challenge all of us on the YNS design team.   This month's challenge is "shake, shake, shake".

Oh shaker cards, how I love to look at thee, oh how much fun it is to shake thee...I could continue but I wouldn't want to start getting negative.
Yes, I accepted the challenge.
Yes, I made a shaker card.
Yes, let's leave it at that.  
I won't get in to how I started gluing it all together without putting the acetate between the layers.  Or how the glue started oozing everywhere, no, I won't even go there.

My card features the newly released stamp set Party Animals.  I can't get enough of these cuties, they all make me smile.   The bear is topping my shaker card accompanied by the cupcake.   The sentiments are both from the set as well.

YNS Ingredients:  Party Animals Stamp Set, Gumdrops, Party Animals Die Set, Stitched Square Die Set, Scrapworks Strips Die Set, Scrapworks Mini Sunburst Die Set, 

I stared off by cutting out the top 2 stitched squares.  I layered the 2 and centered the star and die cut through both layers.   It the die does not cut through the second sheet of cardstock it should have at least left an impression to make it easy to run it through the die cutting machine a second time.  Next step, search for a good shaker tutorial.

Up first, is the new set Incognito!   I have wanted a set like this for a long time.   Not only can you build a monster, you can also use the set to add accessories to the YNS critter stamps.   My card today though is all about the monsters and in case you were wondering, even monsters go to the beach.

My card is for the Naughty or Nice challenge #18 - Fun in the Sun.   Heading to the beach is definitely summer fun!

Up next is a gift bag and 3x3 gift card with coordinating envelope.   It is a Birthday party after all, so we definitely need something to hold the gift.

YNS Ingredients:  Big Birthday Balloon Die Set, 3x3 Envelope Die and Whatnot Sentiments Set Five

The trio was created using the new Big Birthday Balloon Die set.   It comes with a balloon that is a great size for decorating bags and yet still works on a 3x3 card.  It also comes with 2 happy birthday dies.   My card features the scripty die, but there is also another standard alph die.   I die cut a few balloons, added twine for the string and finished it off with a sentiment.

Here is a close up of the 3x3 note card.   The floral with the red balloon is an envelope made with the new 3x3 Envelope Die - I just love matching envelopes to dress up a note card.

YNS August Sneak Peek

The YNS BIRTHDAY PARTY officially begins tomorrow with a New Release Blog Hop with BIG prizes!!!   

Today, the design team is sharing a sneak peek at all the new goodies that will be available in the store tomorrow.   The new release if FULL of FUN stamps and is sure to make you SMILE!!!

My card features 2 new stamp sets and 2 new dies.   The cute cat is from the set Party Animals, which comes with coordinating dies.  I created the letters for "Party Animal" by die cutting the squares using the Alpha Squares die and then stamping each using letters from the Cute Alpha stamp set.  I added the numbers with a marker to each letter after I Googled the official scrabble values.

Under the Sea

Hi Everyone!

I have been busy stamping away (like a maniac)!   Almost every free minute has been spent creating cards for the Splitcoast Stampers Dare To Get Dirty (DTGD) challenges.   If you are a SCS Fan Club member then check out all the details HERE.  DTGD is 40 individual challenges which means I have 40 cards to make in just over a week!  

This is for Lydia's challenge...I need to keep the details under wraps, but I will say it was a fun challenge!

Ingredients:  Your Next Stamp Sea Creature Sentiments, Sea Creatures Set One and Large Ink Splatter stamp, Stitched Rectangle dies, YNS Banner/fishtail dies and Scrapworks Stitched Strips set

I had fun with this card.  I tried a new technique, watercolor stamping to create the background.   Here is the tutorial I used...basically, you simply wet your stamp with water and then stamp it over inked card stock.   I used the Ink Splatter background stamp and the water spreads out a bit so the pattern becomes less distinct.

I will be back with more DTGD creations.  As of right now, I have 14 cards made...

Yesterday I mentioned how much I enjoy cards with a scene.  In addition to Forest Friends stamp set and die set, there is also a new die set Houses on a Hill.  I went with red for the holidays, but this set would be perfect for any time of year!  The new die is paired up with the sentiment from Winter Wishes.

 

 

Now the next set is near and dear because my son inspired it after he turned the Christmas ornament in the Christmas Critters set into a bomb.
Say hi to the new set "Boom!"

There are also rocket and dynamite images in this set...think celebrations, New Year's, any type of party!

 I was inspired by the sketch, which will inspire you?  Now you may have seen this "sketch" before.  It is one of my favorite card layouts. I typically cut out the circle and then fill it with a fussy cut image.
