Don't try this at home!

SOA has been so much fun! I am creating cards for all the summer Birthdays (yes, amazing, well in advance) and have found some great ideas and projects. The only problem is I am cutting back on sleep so I have more time to craft :>) and with twins that still do not sleep through the night I do not have that much sleep to give up, LOL!

Sunrise sewing...
Yesterday morning, one of my sons got up at 4 am and was wide awake. He went back to sleep an hour later, but then I was wide awake so I decided to work on some projects. I pulled out my sewing machine and began stitching a couple cards, I had already glued some DP to one card base and when it came time to stitch around the DP I failed to open the card . This meant I no longer had a card, because I sewed it shut! So lesson learned is NO SEWING while you are half asleep :>) Anyway, I ended up glueing the entire thing to a new card base and although it is not a standard size anymore I actually like the "mistake".

Here is my early morning card for the Little Paper Shop (LPS) SOA card challenge and it is my first time using a digital stamp. I love the real things, but there are some definite advantages to digital. You can make it any size you want and it also takes up less storage space (in my craft area at least). The only disadvantage I see so far is that my printer ink is not waterproof, oh well, I will get around it because I like so many of the digi images out there!

Details:
Stamps: Image - LPS Katie Swing digi stamp, Sentiment - SU Etruscan
Paper: SU Very Vanilla & Rose Red, DP K&Company
Embellies: Joann's Paper Craft Essentials
The dress is paperpieced, & I used foam to lift the main circle image along with the butterfly and flower .

Thanks for looking and have a great day (yes, I was up early again today...what is it with 4 am)! I still have more SOA images to share so stay posted!

Inspired by Paper Piercing

SOA continues on and so do my projects for it! If you have not already joined be sure to do so by May 31st.

This card is for another SOA challenge. Originally this card was supposed to be for the Pink and Brown card challenge, but I realized I was supposed to use 2 embellies and the card only has 1!! Fortunately there are 3 buttons, so it meets the requirements for the SOA Button Challenge (lucky this time around, LOL!).

Details:
Paper - SU pink pirouette, chocolate chip, and DSP Candy Lane . Ink - SU chocolate chip. Buttons – from stash :>)

Inspiration comes from all the paper piecing and paper piercing that everyone is doing. One of my favorite blogs is Can You Say Addicted to Stamps? by Jessie. She does paper piercing (plus swirls & ribbons) on almost all her cards and the results are always fabulous. I decided to try paper piercing myself for this card and would have added swirls and ribbons if I had any (I will need to get some!). Overall though, I am loving the dimension on this card. I will need to add dimensionals to my shopping list because I used a ton for all the layers on the bunny.

My second card is for the 1 Color Challenge, which I did find challenging, because we also had to use 2 embellies and finding 2 different types the same color was not easy.

Details:
SU Barely Banana Cardstock and ink, CB Embossing folder, Offray ribbon and stash button.

Laugh of the day:
My 22 month old son thinks it is fun to spit his drink onto the table and then slurp it up. Yesterday he discovered that his sneakers can also be cups…he spit his milk into his sneaker and then drank from it!! Fortunately, the sneakers are machine washable :>)

SOA Week

This week, my crafting time is dedicated to participating in the SOA (Stampin' Out Alzheimer's) challenges!! SOA is a site set up by Jen Tapler to raise money for the American Alzheimer's Association. Jen started this site because her father has Alzheimer's. The site is only up for this week and with a $5 donation (all proceeds go to the Association) you can access the site - see the link on right sidebar. There are freebies, challenges and contests going on all week. Please join me for this wonderful cause!

Here is the card I created for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge:

All the supplies are SU; the stamp sets are Best Blossoms and Delight in Life.

Now I just need to figure out how to get a watermark on my photos!! LOL!! I am spending more time trying to take good photographs than I am stamping! I have found so far that having a good camera does not matter when you have no idea what any of the advance settings mean...maybe I can coerce my husband into helping me :>)!

Well, enjoy your day and don't forget to join me for SOA. Be sure to send me links to everything you make.

-Julie (ok, I need a fancy signature too!)

My First Post!!

I am starting this blog on a whim. I have been so inspired by all the wonderful crafting blogs out there and this is a wonderful way to share ideas! Last Minute Crafter describes what I am to the "T". I am a Mom to three and work full time, so I take whatever few extra minutes I find in a day to create.

I always have a "great gift idea" that I am finishing at the "Last Minute"! I can be found creating a card minutes before the guest arrives, or as is typical me, finishing a project on the way to deliver it :>).

I carpool to work, so I can easily be found crafting on the way (on the days I am not driving LOL!!), the only rule in the car is no glitter :>). Late at night is another favorite crafting time, once the kids are in bed.
So thank you to all the other bloggers out there and may this be a fun adventure that gets me crafting more! I have years to scrapbook so I need to get started :>)
